Think Research is an industry leader in delivering integrated digital healthcare solutions. They provide knowledge-based workflow and decision support software to large healthcare payer networks and organizations, traditionally focused on hospital, acute, and seniors care.
Here is the story of being the Lead Graphic Designer given an ambitious goal to redesign their visual brand while fulfilling many other task.
Time is of the Essence
In 2019, Think Research was preparing to go public. The current visual brand needed to "grow up" and become more cohesive.
I was a part of a marketing team of six talented people. At the time the company was going through massive changes and layoffs. Unfortunately, my team took a large hit and it was just me and the Automations Lead left to fulfill all marketing requests. With minimal resources and time being of the essence, the CEO Sachin Aggarwal had presented me with an opportunity to redesign the company's visual guidelines with a one-month deadline.
The new color palette is made up of five colours all with a purpose and goes in line with the core
design principles. I used the color theory as a foundation to support the decision-making of
our the colour palette.
Primary color is LOYAL BLUE which represents integrity. This version of blue is bold and has
a seriousness to it and will be used as the dominant color throughout our collateral.
Secondary color is REGAL PLUM represents knowledgeable. This version of purple is unique
and is the color that will separate us from our competitors as it is a color not often seen in
nature or in healthcare branding.
Accent colors are MINT GREEN and TEAL represents confidence. These two versions of green are a representation of our growth and the confidence we have when it comes to what we do and what we bring to the table in our industry.
GREY which is also an accent color represents clarity. Gray is a natural shade and is being used
as a visual anchor for our body copy.
Think Research used stock imagery or in some cases random photos from the internet to
convey a message on their collateral and sometimes you would see that same image used on a
competitor's website. I pitched a new approach in this first phase of the branding process which was illustrations. I designed a library of 20 illustrations from scratch and continued to add more upon request. The variations are endless when it comes to illustrations and we could tell any story in a unique way.
After launching the new visual brand guidelines to the exec team, I presented at the company Demo Day which was a mandatory day for all employees to take part in demos for all our company's products. We had one week to update all the collateral to the new standards. Below is just a tiny fraction of the task.
